My family goes to church. No big surprise there. We are involved with many aspects of the gathering together of God’s people in the little town of Weare, NH. Many jokes have been made over the location of the church, some of them have been made by me, my wife, my children, the people that come to Christ Community Church of Weare, the elders of the church (of which I am a part), & I’m sure many passersby the church as well as by those that make use of the internet & social media. I get it. It’s funny, to a point.
However, in the middle of song service, pastor stands up on the stage to dismiss the kiddos’ back to “Base Camp.” It was slightly before this dismissal that the pastor calmly said that Christianity is the only religion that says, “Come just as you are.” He said that Jesus Christ wants your hurts & pains. With all other religions you have to do something, say something in order to be admitted to heaven. I’ve already heard that before, & yes, it’s true.
Then, out of nowhere, my mind started racing. I asked God to reveal to me the reason why people of the world are so adversarial to the message of the gospel. God gently put into my mind that most people do not want to take advantage of free grace because they don’t have to pay for it. Either money, religious devotion, or any other type of payment. They don’t want to be part of anything they can’t control.
Are you stuck in that situation? Where, you’re in fear of losing control? Then, once you do, do you promise God that if He does get you out of this situation then you will follow Him with all of your heart? Then, after a little while, you don’t? I was there in my teen years before my hair-raising, horrific car accident.
However, when I was 18 & after my prayer of accepting whatever God has for me in that rehab hospital bedroom, then my miracle came. It wasn’t a miraculous healing of my head, where the piece of my skull just automatically grew back overnight. No, God had & still has a much better plan for me than that, & I am currently fulfilling that.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that for all those that love God all things work together for good, for those that are called according to His purpose.”
