Overall, we all like to feel good. We like to feel fantastic. We like to feel … anything but broken hearted. It’s almost been a year since Carrie Fisher .death. I believe she died on a plane suffering from a stroke. Her mother, Debbie Reynolds died the next day, suffering from a broken heart. How tragic.
In the book of Psalms, specifically Psalms 34:18, it says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (NIV). How come so many people die seemingly alone? They die without any resolution to their life. Why?
They don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Many times in my own life, things went bad; I was broken hearted; I was crushed in spirit. However, just before that, things were looking up. I was living life with the confidence that Jesus Christ was Lord and all of that, then in the course of one summer morning, I was taken along like a rollercoaster causing me to doubt God.
At a new low point in my life, God let me stew in my own juices for a month. Stew, & stew, & stew. Then, the Holy Spirit gently nudged me to turn my attention to Job, chapters 38-42.
Job, through suffering countless loss of his sons & daughters, attacks upon his health, & three so-called friends, & his wife who tells him to curse God & die. Great advise! Not!!! In chapter 38-41, it’s God’s answering Job through a cloud stating was he there when He created it all. In chapter 42, Job begins with his ultimate apology to the Lord, & the Lord accepts it. Elsewhere in the 66 letters that comprise the Bible, Jesus Christ says that He will never leave you or forsake you. And even Jesus Christ (the Son of the living God), His prayer in the garden of Gestheme for God the Father to save Him from physical death, wasn’t granted. HOWEVER, JESUS went through with the whole passion, ultimately granting us a way to heaven. 🤗🤗🤗
Here’s a song to give you encouragement as you’re going through a broken heart or a crushed spirit:
