While traveling down the highway, I first heard this song, “Christ in me” by Jeremy Camp, & it convicted my soul. Do we always live as though Christ were in us? I’ll take the second guessing out of us. No, we don’t!
Just take a look @ the news. How can we say that Christ is in us by some of the actions we do. In the Holy Scriptures, James 2:18-23 states this: “But someone will say, “But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith by his works” (ESV).
A lot of people will say by their actions they are Christians. Sad. However, it can go the other way around, faith without works. Equally Sad! How can you say you have faith without works. Even Jesus did a miracle while getting arrested, the healing of an ear of the high priest’s servant (Luke 22:47-53).
“But, He was Jesus,” a common complaint that is out there. Well, true He was Jesus; however, 1 Peter 2:21 says this, “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps” (ESV). It’s as simple as that. However, that’s where the simplicity ends if your a true life follower of Jesus Christ.
